29th July - Afternoon at the Woodstock pub, Didsbury

I met up with Brian in the city centre today and we travelled down to Didsbury by bus. We had a bit of a problem finding the pub, as we took a wrong turning, but got there eventually. We found Alan, Julia, Rick and Ian sat outside as it was a lovely summer day. It took a while to get served at the bar - I don't think they expected to be so popular today. Whilst we were waiting John, Phil and Jenny turned up and joined us. The two tables either side of us soon became free. I chatted to Jenny about her recent trip to Australia - it seems all went well. She is pleased to have graduated and it looks like she won't have difficulties finding a job - the part time work she did during her placement is still keeping her busy. Chris and Tim turned up later on. We chatted to Tim about his recent Network weekend in Derbyshire which went well. Also talked about Greenbelt. I have found out that John is an assistant venue manager this year. Phil and I also told the others how good last night's play was.
Chris, Brian and I made arrangements for our trip to Doncaster next Saturday for the Northern Lights Committee meeting. I hope the weather stays fine until then. We didn't realise how late it was until I checked my watch and saw it was nearly 5.30pm. Brian and I said goodbye and made our way to the bus stop - we found it quite easily this time. The bus must have took longer than usual to get to town and by the time I got back to Shudehill it was 6.30pm so I didn't get home till 7pm.
I had an enjoyable time, but may consider going by car next time if we continue to use this venue.
