17th June - Last day of weekend away at Lake Bala

I managed to get up early this morning despite going to bed late last night. I sat with John, Alan and Mike for breakfast. There was no cooked breakfast today - just toast and cereal. After breakfast I went upstairs to pack. At 11am we had our service. The songs were led by Duncan and Vanessa gave a very personal testimony based on 23rd Psalm. It must have taken a lot of guts to share such personal stuff. After the service we sang "Happy birthday" to Phil and his cake from his Mum was brought in. It was decorated with a football and a mini golf course complete with golfer. We then had lunch which was roast beef and Yorkshire pudding with roast potatoes, broccoli and carrots. I enjoyed it despite not being a big fan of roast beef. The pudding was more my style - orange cheesecake and there was cheese and biscuits to follow too.
I found out that the walk after lunch was going to be a fairly long one led by John so decided not to go on it. I stayed behind and watched the volleyball instead. By now the weather was getting quite hot so I put on a bit of Susanna's suncream as I had decided not to pack mine. Some of the people who had a long way to go like Adele, Alison, Wendy and Norman left early. Rick, Julie and Ian left at three as Julie had to pick up her son from her Mum's. After three games of volleyball others started leaving too. We left at about 4pm and had a pretty good journey home which took just under two hours. I had salmon salad at Mum's before returning to my place. I had an early night to make up for the lack of sleep I had over weekend.
In all it was a good break - I'm really glad I went.
