4th December - Christmas markets and dance lesson

I was off work today so Mum and I went to look at the Christmas Markets in Manchester city centre. We started off in Exchange square where I had a lovely jerk chicken wrap at the Shlurp stall.
We then looked round the various jewellery and Christmas ornament stalls in St Ann's square. The strong smell of aniseed drew us towards the boiled sweet stall at the end - it was so strong you could smell it from outside the church on the opposite side of the road! We then went on to see the stalls on Brazenose Street and bought sweets there. In Albert Square I sampled olives, salami and little ginger biscuits, but we didn't buy anything else as we know you can get all the food for a lot less at the local supermarket! I was quite impressed with the giant Angels in the centre of the square. Must remember to bring my camera with me next time!
We were lucky that it stayed dry all day today -it didn't start raining until we arrived home.
Despite the bad weather I still managed to make it to the Longfield Suite tonight for the jive class. We had two new guest teachers tonight - George and Jackie. it was good to see that they both had mikes so we got good advice on technique for both men and women. The moves learnt in the beginner class tonight were arm jive, manspin and shoulder drop. The intermediate class was just a variation on the beginners class with some syncopation and styling added. It was all well taught - I hope we get these instructors again next week.
